Synopsis: The tourism industry in Europe is recovering rapidly and has witnessed more tourists in the first seven months of 2022 than they had witnessed in all of 2021.
According to the most recent data from world tourism, it is proven that Europe’s tourism industry is rapidly recovering from the post covid scenario. In the first 7 months of 2022, Europe welcomes three times as many international tourists as it did in the previous year, which shows a strong boost in the tourism sector.
Europe welcomed almost three times as many international arrivals as in the first seven months of 2021 (+190 percent), with results boosted by strong intra-regional demand and travel from the United States,” the statement reads.
According to the UNWTO report, Europe welcomes more tourists than it had during the same period in 2021. This indicates that the tourist industry is recovering well and it has reached over 60% of pre-pandemic levels.
“While the tourism industry is improving quickly, Europe is still currently dealing with a number of issues. They have numerous geopolitical and economic issues to deal with. The tourism industry is giving individuals new opportunities to explore European culture.
Zurab Pololikashvili, the secretary-general of the UNWTO, made this point in a statement. “Now is also the moment to reconsider tourism, where it is headed, and how it influences people and the earth,” he said.
The UNWTO research says that 474 million tourists traveled abroad during the 7 months of 2022 whereas the number remains limited to 175 million tourists during the same period in 2021. Also, records show that approximately 207 million international arrivals were reported in the country during June and July 2022, which is more than double the level seen in the same month last year.
A total of 309 million (65% of the total) foreign visitors entered European nations in the first seven months of this year.
According to UNWTO data, in the first few months of 2022, Europe and the Middle East countries see the fastest tourism recovery in their country reaching 74% and 76% of pre-pandemic levels, respectively.
According to the research, all countries including the US Virgin Islands (32 percent rise compared to 2019 statistics), Albania (19 percent increase), Saint Maarten (15 percent increase), Ethiopia, and Honduras (both 13 percent) witnessed higher numbers of international visitors than pre-pandemic levels.
