Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban or the National Parliament House of Bangladesh is located in the capital city of Dhaka. It was constructed between 1961 to 1982 and is one masterpiece of modern and monumental architecture. 2. Bangladesh National Museum
The National Museum of Bangladesh was established in the year 1913 and was formerly known as the Dhaka Museum. 3. Lalbagh Fort
The Lalbagh Fort in Dhaka, Bangladesh, is an incomplete creation from the 17th century. The construction of the Mughal complex was started in 1678 AD by Aurangzebâs son Mughal Subahdar Muhammad Azam Shah. 4. Liberation War Museum
This museum is at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. It is based on the independence of Bangladesh and the liberation war over Pakistan. 5. Shat Gombuj Masjid
The Sixty Dome Mosque in Bangladesh is located in the Mosque City of Bagerhat. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is said to be the most impressive Muslim monument in the Indian subcontinent. Dating back to the 15th century, the Sixty Dome Mosque displays Tughlaq’s architectural style. The mosque has an oblong-shaped prayer hall measuring externally 48.95 m by 32.25 m with a 2.43 m thick surrounding brick wall. The hall is internally divided into seven bays and eleven aisles. The central aisle is wider and higher than the side aisles. The eastern wall consists of a row of eleven pointed-arch openings while each of the side walls has seven. 7. Tajhat Palace
Located on the outskirts of Rangpur city, the Tajhat Palace is a historical monument in Bangladesh. The palace has an imposing architecture with a total of 22 apartments on two floors. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and served as a Rangpur High Court Branch of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh between 1984 to 1991. The museum, while exhibiting some very interesting historical pieces, is limited and underwhelming. Pieces are displayed poorly in dusty, dark cabinets. The museum requires a makeover. 11. National Martyrsâ Memorial
About 35 km north-west of Dhaka, the National Martyrsâ Memorial is situated at Savar and symbolises the valour and sacrifice of the martyrs who for the liberation of Bangladesh sacrificed their lives. In June 1978, a national competition was held for the design of the project. Architect Syed Moinul Hossain’s design proposal was selected among the fifty-seven competitors. The main part of this national monument in Bangladesh is composed of seven isosceles triangular planes each varying in size in its height and base. The highest one has the smallest base while the broadest base has the lowest height. The planes are folded in the middle and placed one after another. The highest point of the structure is about 150 feet. One of the most iconic places in Bangladesh, situated just outside of Dhaka city.
