The southern Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan’s Udaipur District is home to the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary covers 5.19 square kilometers of land. The sanctuary is fully within Udaipur district’s Girwa Tehsil.

The Maharanas of Udaipur used this area as their hunting grounds around the Monsoon Palace in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

In 1987, the area was designated as a wildlife refuge. A 28.7 square kilometer region outside the sanctuary’s perimeter was designated an eco-sensitive zone by the Indian government in 2017.
