Synopsis: The Sabre analytics also show that the number of bookings for Christmas and New Year’s has increased compared to 2021 and that holiday booking windows are getting close to pre-pandemic levels.
The top 10-holiday travel destinations are revealed as a result of Sabre’s end-of-year data crunching, along with some intriguing travel trends and rising travel confidence.
The Sabre analytics also show that the number of bookings for Christmas and New Year’s has increased compared to 2021 and that holiday booking windows are getting close to Covid-19 restrictions levels.
A thorough analysis of Sabre’s booking statistics (for reservations made through the end of October) reveals that 60% of reservations for the holiday season were made in September and October of this year compared to 55% of reservations in 2019. Although more reservations were made this year closer to the holidays, the difference between 2022 and 2019 is getting less.

A key statistic for assessing traveler confidence is the length of the booking window, which can be a sign of increased confidence. Due to travel restrictions and uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, there were more last-minute reservations than usual.
They were unsure whether the travel situation would change by the time their departure date arrived, and ravelers were frequently less eager to make advanced reservations. People are often more inclined to make longer-term arrangements now that the travel environment is more predictable because it is more likely that the trip will go as planned.
A clear image of recovery appears when looking at international travel leaving from the USA, where travel restrictions were eased far earlier than in other regions. In 2022, September and October saw 29% of international holiday bookings (up to the end of October), compared to 38% in 2021 and 27% in 2019.
