At the International Association of Horticulture Producers (AIPH) 2022 World Green Cities Awards, which took place on October 14, 2022, in Jeju, South Korea, Hyderabad won the “World Green Cities Award 2022” for choosing sustainable development. The city took home first place in the category of “Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth.”

It’s a proud moment not only for Hyderabad but for the entire country as Hyderabad bagged the prestigious ‘World Green City Award 2022’. The South Indian beauty won the prize by defeating well-known international cities like Paris, Montreal, Bogota, Mexico City, and Fortaleza in Brazil, all of which are international beauties, gaining millions of tourists every year.
It is a source of pride for Hyderabad, Telangana, and India that Hyderabad was the only Indian city to receive the award. This city not only won the award for its category, but it also won the World Green Cities Award 2022 for the best green city overall.
The Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, tweeted the great news on his official account. He extended his congratulations to the entire team at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and to Special Chief Secretary, MA& UD, Arvind Kumar.

Chandrasekhar Rao was overjoyed to receive these international awards, and he expressed his happiness by saying, “These international awards are proof that the state government is strongly implementing the Haritaharam and urban development programs… giving green fruits to the country.”
