The announcement for flight cancellation came after Royal Air Force (RAF) put all its flights on hold to and from one of the biggest air base Brize Norton. The Defense Ministry of UK informed about this event tweeting “ During this period of extreme temperature flight safety remains the RAF’s top priority, so aircraft are using alternative airfields in line with a long-established plan. This means there is no impact on RAF operations”.
The first warning about scorching temperature was put out on Friday which was expected to remain the same till Tuesday. The temperature is predicted to go up to 40 degrees Celsius or 102 degrees Fahrenheit in some parts of the United Kingdom.
The shutdown of Luton Airport is the last event in stressful summer trips to the UK, which has seen tens of thousands of flights canceled, long security lines, and innumerable claims of missing or delayed baggage.
