In an interview, the Minister said “When I received the first direct flight to the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport back on March 7, earlier than ever before, few believed that Greece would have a successful tourism season. Those were the first days of the Ukraine war, the pandemic was still ongoing and the energy crisis was causing disruption on a global level.”

He also pointed out that UBS has revised its prediction of Greece’s GDP this year which has jumped from 4 to 5.7 percent. Not only this, tourism will one of the few sectors which will contribute the highest to the GDP. 

He added that the response that they have gotten this year is quite encouraging and exciting. The demand for tourist packages during autumn and winter has increased. The Minister further said that it is important for them to walk ahead in order to attract German and North European people to spend some time in Greece beyond summer. Greece is the perfect country to spend some quality time in autumn and winter because of its temperature. There are some of the best places to travel in Greece with your family and friends.
