Synopsis: Soon you could travel from Delhi to Meerut in just 55 minutes. This is India’s first rail transit system which is developed by the Ghaziabad-based National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
New Delhi: A big news for the passengers who travel from Delhi to Meerut daily. Soon they could travel from Delhi to Meerut in just 55 minutes. This is India’s first rail transit system which is developed by the Ghaziabad-based National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The trial run for this train will be between Delhi to Meerut. This transport system is going to operate from Sarai Kale Khan station in Delhi to Meerut in UP via Ghaziabad.
According to an India Today report, two separate trains will run under the project, Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The first train is named Rapid Rail which will operate from Modipuram station to Sarai Kale Khan station in Delhi. The second train is named Meerut Metro and it will also start from Modipuram to Partapur.
The reports say that at least 30 rapid rails will operate every 10 minutes. The speed of the train will be 160 km/hr and cover the distance between Delhi to Meerut in the shortest time which is 55 minutes.
Additionally, the railway corridor between Delhi and Ghaziabad is in the final stage and will be completed soon.
As per the report, the department is soon going to complete assembling Regional Rapid Rail in Duhai Depot. The 17 rapid railway lines are built in Duhai depot in which 11 are stabling lines, 1 heavy internal line, 3 internal way lines, and 2 workshop lines.
The features of the Rapid Rail System will reduce the time of traveling from Delhi to Meerut. Exclusive features of India’s first RRTS are as follows.

- These rapid rails are fully automatic with automatic security control.
- Some other features on the train are mobile and laptop charging plugs, air condition, ventilation, map reading, and CCTV cameras which will provide a great experience to the travelers.
